  • Abstract
With the development of self-commutated inverters employing GTO thyristors, new voltage waveforms which improve machine performance can be synthesized. The behavior of a synchronous motor supplied by GTO voltage inverter differs significantly from its behavior to sinusoidal input voltages in both transient and steady state regimes. For accurate prediction of the machine characteristics in time domain, digital simulation using numerical techniques is necessary. The authors study two kinds of control of GTO voltage inverters drive called 1200 and 1800. A mathematical model of the synchronous motor, taking into account all possible configurations of the association inverter-motor, is developed. The simulation of these systems is based on the use of the automatic generator of numerical simulation program called GASPE
