  • Abstract
    The accurate, reliable, nonintrusive determination of the angular position of the rotor of a switched reluctance motor from measurements of the phase voltages and currents is difficult. The authors describe the principles of a new method, which has been applied to a 1 kW, 4-phase motor at low and medium speeds. The method detects the instantaneous rotor position. Good performance has been demonstrated
