  • Abstract
Gold nanoparticles have been found own broad applications in nanomaterials and nanobiotechnology for their specific physical characteristics. But generally, they are considered difficult to trap stably in optical tweezers which still owing to their specific physical characteristics. In this paper, numerical studies are carried out to show the influence of the laser parameters on the gold particles in optical tweezers. For comparison, the influence of the laser parameters on the polystyrene nanobeads in optical tweezers is also shown. The results show that a stable trap for gold particles needs a strict choice of laser power and laser wavelength, even though gold particles are more suitable than polystyrene beads used to be nanoprobes in biological systems.
