Abstract
The authors describe an analytical approach, equally applicable to any form of brushless DC motor (BDCM), for torque ripple analysis, based on either design or test data. The analysis is supplemented by an extensive simulation program in order to determine suitable performance figures for practical implementation and extension to facilitate on-line data transfer to the machine controller. The program to perform this work is written in Turbo Basic, in view of the good graphical support available for this at the time, and is run on a PC-compatible microcomputer
