Abstract :
The authors describe a programmable three-phase power converter rated at 10 kVA that can be used to simulate disturbance conditions. This simulator makes it possible to study compatibility between power electronics devices and the network. A major problem with this system is to correctly simulate the short-circuit power. This constraint resulted in the development of algorithms for fast regulation of the voltage delivered by the simulator for varying loads, particularly for nonlinear loads. Two methods are discussed. One is based on the linearization of a RL filter response to a pulse and uses a PI type correction device. The second method uses the dead beat control principle with new real time strategies to achieve a maximum amplitude for the fundamental value of the output voltage of the simulator
