Abstract :
As never before, data security has become one of the major concerns in all the organizations. This is mainly because of frequent virus attacks due to many plug-in like USB devices (removable disks) etc...also due to file sharing among the systems which are in a network. Since antivirus companies will take time to create virus signature database (update for viruses). Also the antivirus softwares are more commercialized in such a way that a normal user can not purchase the full version. So, if we are aware of the methods of removing viruses (though not all) manually from our computers (with or without the help of antivirus, either with full version or trail version), we can reduce the spreading of that virus in the network as well as we can keep our data safe and secure. In this paper, the author suggests a simple technique to remove most of the viruses manually from our systems. The proposed method involves steps like identify the virus process, search the infected files, kill the virus process, delete the searched (infected) files and edit the registry to default values, etc.
