Abstract :
Design for Six Sigma™ (DFSS) is a systematic product design methodology for designing new products that has customer requirements inherently built into the various phases of the development process. Whilst the concept is not new, the rigour and the discipline required to ensure the Voice of the Customer is effected from concept to ship means moving engineers away from their tried and tested comfort approach. This paper focuses on the experiences of the Associates of DFSS in changing the management aspect of introducing DFSS methodology to the product development engineering at Motorola Penang Design Centre.
