Abstract :
In view of the ever increasing requirements for safety of the public and operators the author proposes that a means to allow the controlled relief of overpressure become mandatory for SF6 metal-enclosed distribution switchgear enclosures. The author also proposes that the manufacturer demonstrates that in the unlikely event of an internal arcing fault of rated short-circuit current the gas enclosure shall rupture in a defined manner to allow the controlled relief and discharge of the arcing products
