Abstract
The effects of reignitions after interruption of short-circuit currents at very short arcing times has been found as a possible source of overvoltages. These overvoltages will occur when the circuit breaker being tested is able to interrupt the periodic high-frequency discharge currents, which come from the TRV network. Field tests have show that cable and line networks will produce periodic high-frequency discharge currents. The network for the TRV representation must be able to produce a periodic high-frequency discharge current. Future IEC specifications should take these effects into account for a correct definition of test conditions
