  • Abstract
The noise generated by a solid-state imager contains two components, random noise and fixed pattern noise (FPN). The authors propose a way of discriminating between FPN and random noise. Based on that method and using digital technology, a new noise meter has been developed which is available for both the HDTV and NTSC systems by switching the clock frequency. The new noise meter is also capable of picking out flicker noise, horizontal (H) clamping noise and striped pattern noise from the whole noise signal. The noise spectrum analyzing function is presented
