Abstract :
The authors set out a quantitative measurement of ghosts (multipath transmission) in a received television waveform. The measurement is based on a non-adaptive technique where the auto-correlation and cross-correlation of the detected video signal and the a priori knowledge of a blank line are used to calculate the relative amplitude and time delay of the ghost. The known ghost is then removed by an IIR digital filter which is also specified. The technique is applicable to PAL, SECAM and NTSC transmissions
