Abstract :
The author discusses the use of multiple antennas in a single radome to allow more efficient use of antenna sites. It is noted that multiple antennas in a single radome are unique in that more individual antennas can be placed on the top of a tower without increasing the number of antenna mounts. The top of the tower is the only place where true omnidirectional coverage can be achieved. For situations in which hybrid transmitter combiners must be used, multiple antennas can be effective in reducing transmitter insertion loss. A typical ten-channel system using two-channel hybrid combiners is considered as an example
