Abstract :
Modern communication systems are too complicated to be analyzed completely by using classical techniques, in these cases a digital computer simulation is used to study the performance and capabilities of the system. This paper simulates a multi-amplitude continuous phase modulation (MACPM) transmitter-receiver system operating in an AWGN channel. The Viterbi decoding is used not only for the demodulation of the bit sequences of the transmitted messages but also for the estimation of the initial phase of the carrier at the start of the demodulation process. Simulation of the output transmitted signal and the trellis diagram in a matrix form is presented, to show the error correcting capability of the receiver
