Abstract :
In recent years, wind energy has become an important field of study. A major focus of this study is the efficient design of wind farms. This design process involves consideration of a number of design criteria, which are often conflicting. Therefore, a balanced solution needs to be found that provides the best tradeoff between all design criteria. In this paper, a fuzzy logic based decision making approach is proposed to address the multi-criteria aspects of the problem which requires finding the optimum combination of two important design criteria, namely, hub height and zero output percentage. Using the Unified And-Or (UAO) aggregation operator, a mechanism is modelled and formulated to achieve the best tradeoff between the two design criteria. Results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed approach in addressing the issue of finding the optimal combination values for the hub height and zero output percentage.
