The authors present computer aided meter testing equipment for the certification and calibration of single phase tariff meters. The equipment works by generating a signal when the black mark on the rotating disc passes through an infrared scanning head. The signal will trigger the count of pulses from the reference standard meter. The pulses from the meter and the reference meter are fed into the computer. The computer compares the number of impulses of the reference standard and the test meter to calculate the meter error
