This paper describes the formulation of a novel revolve and correlate algorithm based on the mathematics of group theory and the development of a recognition system utilising fast digital signal processing techniques for the inherently sequential nature of the initial part of the algorithm and transputers for synchronising the concurrent running of these processes and the subsequent recognition of the object
