            Abstract :
One can get many cross sectional CT data and can obtain three dimensional (3-D) information about the organs from these CT images. The 3-D data obtained by piling up many cross sectional images have been used for making new cross sectional images by accessing appropriate parts of the 3-D data. But it is not so easy to generate a cross sectional image in a short time, especially in the usual case where the generation is done by a software system. For clinical application, it is very significant to be able to display images in quite a short time. The paper describes a hardware system (built using the NEC PC9801 personal computer) which can display cross sectional tomographic data on an arbitrary plane in real time and can also generate 3-dimensional shapes of organs in quite a short time
