  • Abstract
An integrated-optic matrix-vector multiplier using collinear acoustooptic (AO) interaction is discussed. The processor performance in analog and digital representations is clarified. The collinear AO modules are integrated in parallel at a lateral separation of 200 μm, with an acoustic crosstalk of less than -25 dB for frequencies ⩾150 MHz. Optical crosstalk caused by the mode conversion along optical waveguide branches is also investigated. It is shown that a crosstalk due to SAW (surface acoustic wave) coupling between adjacent SAW waveguides can be suppressed under -25 dB by separating the AO modules to 200 μm for frequencies higher than 150 MHz
