Abstract :
A low cost radio-over-fiber in-building distributed network system is presented in this paper. The transmission characteristics are presented showing the performance figure of merits and possibilities of WLAN and UWB wireless transmission along side legacy cable-based RF signals in a low-cost wideband VCSEL-based ROF access network. The novelty of this ROF distribution system makes it ideal as the next generation of access networks for integrated high-speed combined wired and wireless access FTTH/FTTP networks allowing multiple access technologies to the home, for both legacy and future access technologies.
