Abstract :
A new slicing algorithm of unilateral tolerance is proposed in the paper. Though lots of current slicing algorithms all focus on minimizing the tolerance, they all overlook the importance of tolerance uniformity. This often results in the problems of shape distortion. Therefore to ensure unilateral tolerance on whole parts for all slicing type, a new slicing procedure is developed to adaptive adjust slicing height according to the unit normal vector of a share edge between triangle facets in stereolithography (STL) file. Experiments show the algorithm not only effectively and reliably slicing the STL model but also improving parts´ working tolerance
