  • Abstract
Assembly mating constraints have significance in many different fields such as assembly design and assembly planning. This paper presents a novel approach for automatically recognizing assembly mating constraints from B-Rep model. It is composed of geometric reasoning and constraint verification. The general geometric reasoning rules are extended to handle the case of CAD modeling with tolerance and avoid some redundant constraints. According to the implicit assembly semantic, an algorithm based on the idea of mating cells identification is introduced for verifying and enhancing the validity of mating constraints resulting from geometric reasoning. Experimental results show that this approach can highly enhance the correctness and validity of automatic acquisition of mating constraints
