Abstract :
Considers packet data transmission over radio channels. A worst case model of a mobile radio channel is used. A useful adaptive matched-filter detection technique useful for this kind of channel with several independent fading paths has been used and found to work satisfactorily Two methods of frame by frame detection are presented. It has also been found that if the stored vectors in the modified system are extended by 16 components (as against eight) of the training signal, the results obtained are still the same. This is due to the fact that intersymbol interference extends only up to eight symbols in the received signal. For further improvement in the performance, a detector moving forward as well as backward in time may be used, although it has a very high degree of complexity
