Abstract :
This paper presents the concept study and key experimental results of a vehicle microwave radar system for 2D and 3D environment mapping. The system is realized by combination of a wideband FMCW radar sensor with a rotational mirror system to obtain the surrounding geometries. Key design considerations and experiment results were discussed and presented. The system can be used for many automotive and robotic routing applications, and can be further combined with other sensors for data fusion.
