Abstract :
The authors first give a description of the graph theoretic multiple access (GTMA) scheme. The way in which resource allocation is made adaptive to demand is explained in detail. Next, an important enhancement to the original scheme, which is then called GTMA/DUS is presented, where DUS means dynamic updating scheme. The delay/throughput performance of an R-LAN utilising GTMA and GTMA/DUS is investigated both by computer simulations and mathematical analysis, and the results are discussed. GTMA and GTMA/DUS were also compared with a static allocation method (SATDM), and other existing resource allocation methods. Results show that the graph theoretic schemes possess one of the best delay/throughput characteristics and perform especially well when traffic is time-varying and spatially non-uniform
