A joint algorithm for receiver timing recovery and AFC [cellular radio]

A combined automatic frequency control and timing recovery algorithm is discussed. This novel technique is easily implemented in sampled receivers. The algorithm requires only two samples per symbol for its operation, of the two samples, one is used for symbol decision. This technique is independent of the recovered symbols and can be applied to filtered linear modulated signals
