Abstract
In this paper, a simple and fast method based on DFP algorithm to design a high performance decentralized controller is presented. While all the necessary conditions for convergence are satisfied, this method offers a better performance compared with other conventional methods. It is also compared with two other optimization algorithms, Broyden-Fletcher-Goldforb-Shanno (BFGS) and steepest decent. These three methods are applied to an aircraft control problem. The gradient-based method converges slowly and does not converge to the desired decentralized structure. But the performance of the BFGS algorithm is quite similar to the DFP algorithm
