  • Abstract
A direct-heating fusing roll with heating elements on the outer circumference of a pipe has been developed as a fusing method for electrophotography. As compared with the conventional lamp-type fusing unit, it reduces the warm-up time by 1/2 as well as the power consumption. The roll is also smaller in size than the conventional lamp-type fusing roll. Using electroless Ni-P resistors as heating resistors provides uniform distribution of roll surface temperature and high reliability. Experimental results on the performance of the roll are presented
