Abstract :
Advantages of the use of short high-nonlinearity dispersion-shifted fibers (HNL-DSFs) to generate broadband four-wave mixing (FWM) for wavelength conversion were discussed. Making use of an optimized amount of modulational instability (MI) with high power pump, we achieved 15.3 nm enhancement of the conversion bandwidth and 22.5 dB enhancement of the conversion efficiency
