Abstract :
The study described presents an approach to studying the assessing C2 organizations. Command systems are considered as organizational structures which adapt themselves to variations in the availability, quality, quantity and timeliness of received information, and in response to the availability and performance of communication links and other resources. The authors present a derived theory of C2 organizations, particularly applying the work of the management theorists J.R. Galbraith (1974) and H. Mintzberg (1979). This provides an integrated set of principles for assessing and studying C 2 organizations. This should enable C2 organizations to be assessed from an organizational perspective, thus giving the human parts of the system due consideration. It provides a means to understand how organizations work, how different task distributions affect performance and how different team groupings and structures affect performance
