Abstract :
A CPW-fed twin slot antenna that could operate with and without a back conductor within the same frequency band has been presented. In both cases, the proposed antenna can exhibit good impedance matching, moderate antenna gain, and low cross-polarization levels in E- and H-planes. The efficiencies of the antenna with and without back conductor are estimated to be 60.4 % and 84.5 %, respectively. The antenna could have bi- or uni-directional radiation and is very attractive for the hand-held devices with the possibility of using a back conductor.
