            Abstract : 
A road sign recognition system that allows detection under a wide range of scale variation is presented. The recognition system is implemented by a nonlinear JTC. Precise index of nonlinearity is chosen to obtain good discrimination capabilities, as well as, illumination-invariance. We compare the performance of two different methods: the use of composite filters, and when a filter bank is used. In particular, we consider Fourier-plane nonlinear filters as composite filters
