Abstract :
Bergate, a pilot project of the Berkom program that supports the development and demonstration of new services and applications in a broadband ISDN (BISDN) environment, is discussed. The fiber-optics-based Berkom test network for BISDN and the different user interfaces to that network are described, and some network-oriented protocol aspects are examined. The hardware and software architecture and realization of the Bergate system is described
