Abstract
The reflection properties of thin slabs based on artificial materials is studied. The slabs are assumed to have different values of permeability (mu) and permittivity (epsiv) in the x and y directions, and arbitrary variation in the z direction. Analytical formulas are developed for the design of anisotropic thin slabs including appropriate values for the spacer materials in between. It will be demonstrated that the thin slabs with anisotropic material is usable to control a frequency bandwidth and direction of reflected wave. To evaluate the analytical method, the numerical calculation by use of EM field simulation is carried out and the result is compared to the analytical result.
