  • Abstract
A description is given of the Advanced Integrated Multiplexed Hybrid (AIM-HY), a complete self-contained, 5-V only, dual redundant MIL-STD-1553 terminal. The AIM-HY was developed to support a MIL-STD-1553B remote terminal, bus controller, or bus monitor mode of operation. The 5-V transceivers, protocol and internal double buffered shared RAM (8K×16 random-access memory) offer more advantages. The system designer can deal with a memory-mapped interface and a few external items such as a 16-MHz clock and 1553 isolation transformers. The electrical, mechanical, and special competitive features of the AIM-HY are highlighted. An overview of the VLSI monolithic chips and their radiation hardness is presented
