Abstract :
Device driver functions as the software interface for the User-mode programs to access the hardware for Windows-based PCs. IRP (I/O Request Packet) is a kind of complex data structure that be used to communication with the kernel mode driver. The complex structure is very hard to comprehend. This paper clearly analyzes the structure of the IRP in-depth, and illustrates the application of IRP. At the end of paper, a hardware example for IRP application is offered.
