Abstract
In conventional active filters, the load current as well as the active filter output current is detected. Then, the harmonic component of the load current is extracted to create a reference current of the active filter. This paper proposes a novel current control method that requires only detecting the source current. It requires neither detecting the active filter output current nor extracting a harmonic component from the source current. Only two current sensors are required for detecting the current in respective two phases. Thus, the current control system can be greatly simplified.
