Abstract
The paper presents the investigation results on the hexagonal shape DRA and its 3-element array for beamforming purposes, both on the finite ground planes. This paper is written in the memory of Preet R. S. Sodhi who was the M. Sc. student at SDSU and was carrying out his thesis research on the DRA antennas under the guidance of Dr. Sharma. Mr. Sodhi left this research with an impedance bandwidth of 65%. After further optimizations, an impedance bandwidth of 85% is achieved with the monopole like radiation patterns in the beginning of the bandwidth and the directional radiation patterns later on. Similar bandwidth performance is also observed with the array configuration. The additional simulation results will be presented during the symposium.
