Abstract
The application of computer vision techniques for non-contact strain measurements is described. The incoming digital image is first filtered and edge detected to a width of 1 pixel thick. Line segmentation is then used to find out the vertices of the ellipse. With this set of vertices, a curve fitting procedure is employed to work out the different parameters of the ellipse
