Abstract :
The Service Oriented Approach offers a wide range of efficient applications using this approach also for control or monitoring tasks. This article introduces a distributed system designed for control tasks. The application based on this system uses objects interacting via events. Especially the usage of event based communication in control applications requires additional investigations regarding the timing constraints, depending on the dedicated application. In this paper we present a feasibility study about the successful usage of an event based distributed control system for an application demonstrating coming from process industry. We will furthermore discuss the range of the additional network load usable for other tasks without influencing the control application. In this paper we discuss also the vision of using the principles of the presented control system for the vertical integration of the control level up to commissioning or monitoring tools.
