Abstract
Proposes the use of high level knowledge constraints to solve the problem of model based recognition of spatial triangles and quadrilaterals under perspective projection. The input to the recognition method is a list of polygons extracted from a 2D intensity image by means of edge and intermediate feature detection processes. As a by-product of the method the relative 3D pose of each polygon with respect to the camera is recovered. The method can also be used to recognise general polygons with missing sides according to a single perspective view. The experimental results reported confirm the feasibility of the proposed method
