Abstract :
The modeling of indoor radio channels in terms of waveguide propagation offers a substantially simplified wireless planning tool. Yet, a complete assessment of its prospects includes the effects of essential channel characteristics that are not easily incorporated into a waveguide model such as wall discontinuities and the presence of scattering objects. This paper offers an assessment of hallway propagation modeling using dielectric waveguide sections, in comparison to FDTD simulations. Thus, significant insights are obtained on the prospects and limitations of waveguide-based channel modeling.
