Abstract :
A new control principle for contactless user interaction in building automation is presented. Based on head-pose-estimation and head tracking, a control system detects designated head movements of the operator via a simple camera system and maps these to executable control commands. Using an open control architecture with standardized interfaces, the integration and benchmarking of different configurations (e.g. head-tracking systems) with a variety of application dependent command sets and control systems is feasible. A prototype system based on one of the various settings is put in practice on an elevator application. Focusing on describing the test methodology, we discuss significant results of the prototype leading to conclusions about the benefit of this approach and further research.
