Abstract :
In this paper, radiation principles for the interior dipole excitation of a layered medium by a time-harmonic spherical electromagnetic wave is established. The study of such excitation problems is motivated by several scientific and technological applications, including: (i) localization of buried objects in layered media, (ii) medical implantations inside the human body for hyperthermia or biotelemetry purposes, (iii) resonant layered microstrip antennas, (iv) investigation of the human brain´s activity, and (v) scattering by waveguides inhomogeneities.
