Abstract
A design approach using simulation to support integrated voice and data (IVD) for a token ring is described. Problems associated with integrating voice and data in token ring protocols are defined. To provide high quality of voice as well as high performance of data over a wide data traffic range, design issues such as voice/data cycle allocation method, limit of maximum data packet size, and packetization period are explained. The proposed approach is applied to the IEEE 802.5 protocol, and its performance is evaluated
