Abstract :
Attenuation and velocity measurements were performed on a single crystal of CeCu6 from 50 mK up to room temperature with longitudinal waves propagating along the a axis of this crystal. An increase in attenuation and a small peak in velocity were seen at around 210 K, where an orthorhombic to monoclinic structural transition occurs. A maximum in attenuation (at 130 MHz) was observed at 2.5 K, which appears to be in the vicinity of the Kondo temperature. Below 2 K the attenuation (at 300 MHz) increases monotonically down to 50 mK. Field sweeps up to 8 T at 70 mK and 1 K showed that the velocity has a large change in both cases, but at 70 mK the amount of change is about 15% larger than at 1 K
