Abstract :
This paper describes a novel cross-correlation-based doubletalk detection algorithm derived for use in individual subbands of a critically sampled subband echo canceller. In addition, each per-subband doubletalk detector is allowed to control adaptation of its corresponding adaptive filter independently in response to doubletalk conditions. Simulation results are presented for speech signals and doubletalk applied during the initial adaptive filter convergence period. It is shown that the proposed structure can achieve a 4.2 dB higher ERLE than an adaptive filter employing a global doubletalk detector. The algorithm is also analyzed in terms of detection probability as a function of doubletalk signal power
