Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an iterative M-algorithm for decoding of convolutionally coded frames. Different iteration of decoding is performed only in the case of detecting error in the decoded frame. A CRC error detection code is employed to detect the erroneous frames. Every time that an erroneous frame is detected; another iteration of the M-algorithm decoding is performed with a higher value of M. It is shown that our proposed algorithm offers the promised low frame error performance of the very long constraint length codes with a reasonable complexity
