Abstract :
The authors suggest a metric-based approach that emphasizes the necessity for analyzing computer performance variables and shows how to normalize the performance variables to a known machine and summarize benchmark results by one parameter that represents relative system performance. The methodology is applied to a specific case and is illustrated in two phases: (1) univariate analysis and the necessity for transforming the variables logarithmically, and (2) looking at the rules of P.J. Fleming and J.J. Wallace (1986) more closely and summarizing benchmark results
