Abstract :
The authors describe a simulation approach to the study of the performance issues of the telephone network operations process. For the initial phase of the study, the customer trouble reporting process was selected. The average receipt-to-close time of a customer trouble as a function of the number of repair techniques and data access time was studied along with the workload distribution. The Bellcore-developed system IC* was used to implement the simulation, to display queuing effects and transaction flows, and to produce a pictorial representation of the simulation model
