Abstract :
Over the years the manfacturers of induction motors have tried their best to produce reliable induction machines for the motor industry. A good monitoring system which could detect rotor cage faults which may arise during manufacturing or ealy signs of impending motor failure in the rotor would therefore serve a very useful purpose. The author describes a very simple method of detecting a slight rotor asymmetry which generally signifies the beginning of rotor failures which, if left unattended, could lead to a much more serious stator damage or machine breakdownn
